Refugees International Applauds Passage of the No Ban Act in the House
Please see below statement from Refugees International’s Senior U.S. Advocate Yael Schacher:
Refugees International applauds today’s House passage of the NO BAN Act. This legislation would repeal all versions of President Trump’s discriminatory travel bans, including those impacting Muslim majority countries, African countries, refugees, and asylum-seekers arriving at the border. It would also change a provision of immigration law to prohibit discrimination based on religion or nationality, and limit the power of any administration from enacting discriminatory bans. The Senate must move urgently to pass its version of the legislation. When it does so, it should not include any language that would give the president license to use public health as a pretext to ban those seeking entry due to persecution.
