Emergency Sudan Briefing: Eyewitness Accounts from Darfur and Chad

The war in Sudan is reaching a new level of catastrophe. In Darfur, observers on the ground say hundreds of thousands of people have been newly displaced in recent weeks. Thousands more are arriving daily in neighboring Chad, only to find dire conditions and little humanitarian assistance in the wake of U.S. aid cuts.
Recent fighting has resulted in the highest levels of civilian deaths and forced displacement in Sudan since the Darfur genocide two decades ago. Urgent action is needed to surge humanitarian assistance and mobilize diplomatic pressure to end the atrocities. As President Trump visits the Middle East, Sudan must be a priority.
Refugees International hosted an on-the-record briefing with Sudanese partners and observers who were recently on the ground in Darfur and Eastern Chad to discuss the latest and what must be done.
