Displaced and Detained: Rohingya in India

On May 18, 2023, Refugees International and The Azadi Project hosted the launch of our report on the situation of the Rohingya living in India, “A Shadow of Refuge: Rohingya Refugees in India” and a screening of our short documentary film Displaced and Detained – Rohingyas in India. The event took place in a hybrid format at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia (FCC) in New Delhi, India.

The report highlighted the everyday challenges Rohingya refugees living in informal settlements in India face–including the threat of arbitrary detention and deportation–and makes recommendations to improve the situation. Our short documentary film featured interviews with the Rohingya refugees. It was followed by a panel discussion with the Rohingya refugees, and experts and representatives from Refugees International and The Azadi Project.
