Jorge Hurtado
Refugee Fellow
Jorge Hurtado is a fellow in Refugees International’s Refugee Fellows Program. He is a Nicaraguan journalist and television presenter for France 24, reporting on migration and solutions journalism in Latin America. Through his podcast El Extranjero, Jorge explores the human impact of displacement and critically examines shifts in migration policy across the region.
Beyond his reporting, Jorge has been invited to international forums, universities, and workshops to speak about reframing migration through data-driven insights and a human-centered perspective. Jorge is a former Edward R. Murrow Fellow of the U.S. State Department and a member of the Central America Leadership Initiative (CALI) of the Aspen Institute, as well as the Latin American Network of Young Journalists by Distintas Latitudes.
