Press Briefing: Congress, Advocates Call on NBA to End Emirates Partnership as UAE Fuels Genocide in Sudan

As the NBA Finals kick off, one of the most prominent brands on display will be the Emirates, the state-owned airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

But behind this partnership is a disturbing fact. The same UAE partnering with the NBA is also partnering with a paramilitary group in Sudan that the United States government has found responsible for genocide.

A growing coalition of activists, Sudanese diaspora, and Members of Congress are calling upon the NBA to end its partnership with Emirates until the UAE ends its support of genocide. We hosted a virtual, on-the-record press briefing featuring U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern and representatives of Refugees International, The Sentry, and Sudanese diaspora leaders to discuss.
