Sarah Sheffer is the vice president for strategic outreach at Refugees International and the communications lead at the Refugee Advocacy Lab. Sheffer has helped lead strategic communications research on best practices to engage diverse audiences on refugee welcome and inclusion and has a proven track-record of success in ensuring that refugees themselves are at the center of the public and media discourse.

Sheffer has more than a decade of experience in communications, having previously worked with Burson-Marsteller, a leading global communications firm, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where she served as outreach manager for Carnegie’s foreign affairs experts.

Earlier in her career, Sheffer worked in Cairo, Egypt, as a video producer for Thomson Reuters and in Washington, DC, as a desk assistant at the PBS NewsHour. She has a B.A. in international affairs and Middle East studies from Northeastern University.
