Remote U.S. Domestic Policy Intern

Refugees International is seeking a talented individual to join their program team as the U.S. domestic policy intern. This intern will work closely with the Senior U.S. advocate in producing products related to access to protection in the United States, including through asylum, refugee resettlement, humanitarian visas, and temporary protected status. Responsibilities will include researching topics related to accessing to protection at the border and immigration litigation in the federal courts.  The intern will especially be helping to plan an event for our “Voices from the Border” series on alternatives to detention. The intern will also attend and take notes at virtual events and meetings and write blogs for the Refugees International website.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate (at least a junior) or graduate degree program related to U.S. history, policy, or law. Law students are particularly welcome.

  • Have strong research and writing skills

  • Background or experience with U.S. immigration system a plus. 

  • Be passionate about Refugees International’s work and mission.

  • Foreign language fluency, particularly Spanish, is a plus.  

We are looking for a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, Monday – Friday from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. to work remotely, with a minimum time commitment of three months starting September 2020. Please note that this position is unpaid, but we can help facilitate academic credit.
