Refugee crises left unattended threaten stability around the world and people forced from their homes by conflict are among the world's most vulnerable. But they are not forgotten. US-based organization Refugees International, which started in 1979 as a citizens' movement to protect Indochinese refugees, is now the leading advocacy organization that provokes action from global leaders to resolve refugee crises. Its mission is to bring attention to the needs of people that have been forced to flee their homes because of violence or natural disasters. Every year, the organization awards individuals who have dedicated their efforts and time to help others. Amra Alirejsovic and Virginia Lawrence were at the 33rd anniversary dinner.
