The UN emergency relief coordinator has described Sudan’s bid to assist aid-dependent Darfuris after expelling key foreign relief workers as a “Band-Aid” solution to a looming humanitarian crisis. The undersecretary general for humanitarian affairs warned that a joint review by UN and Sudanese officials revealed major difficulties in replacing the departed aid workers.
