As Burmese refugees pour into Chicago to be resettled, the community is faced with the dificult task of supporting residents who have yet to learn English. Poe Clee, a native Karen and fluent English speaker, is the lifeline connecting refugees to the rest of Chicago by translating between doctors, landlords, and bill collectors and the Burmese community.
