Chad 2006: No secondary education available for CAR refugees

Most of the young children living inside the camps around Gore attend the primary school that is available in their camps. Some 84 per cent of the children aged 6-14 finish primary education. However, these camps do not have secondary education available. Those who want to attend high school must walk twice a day a distance ranging from seven to 12 kilometers from their various camps to Gore, the nearest town. The trek especially for the girls is treacherous as there are reports of some of them being sexually attacked en route. As sexual abuse is a taboo subject that brings stigmatization, few cases are reported.
