Sudan 2006: Woman displaced a second time

07/17/2006

This woman fled her home when the Janjaweed attacked the camp and was returning the next morning to find her donkey. This was also the second time she had been forced from her home, as she too had been displaced a few months earlier from her village. Women must travel on their donkeys many hours away from the camp to find firewood that is suitable for cooking, leaving them vulnerable to further violence by the Janjaweed.
