The war in Darfur is continuing, despite the government’s decision to sign the Darfur Peace Agreement last year, and displacement remains a serious problem. As a result, some areas remain underserved. One area is Gereida, 90 km south of Nyala, the capital of south Darfur. The number of internally displaced there has grown to 128,000 from about 30,000 a year ago, yet there are only about half a dozen agencies working in the area. One of those is ARC International.
