While there is “peace” in south Sudan since the signing of an agreement that ended the 22-year North-South war, life still remains unpredictable and difficult for many Sudanese. Refugees International interviewed Bakita (not her real name) in a state that borders South Darfur. Her child was abducted and she left her village to search for her. The police rescued her daughter, but she moved to South Darfur because of the war in the South. When war broke out in Darfur, she lived in a camp there until she heard peace had returned to her home village. Now she has returned to her village and is trying to rebuild her life.
