One new mother was pleased to introduce her three-month-old baby to RI. This woman’s husband said it would be better for them to go to Pakistan if they could, but that it is not possible right now. He knows lots of people who have traveled to Pakistan, and his brother resides there in Orangi. Individuals who lived or who have traveled to Pakistan tell him it is comparatively better there. In Saidpur there are few opportunities, and workers must travel far to find employment. When the independent Electoral Commission registered voters recently, about 4,000 people signed up. This head of household refused to put their name on list because he wants the government of Bangladesh to improve their living conditions first.
