This college student is supported by her sisters’ embroidery work and hopes to obtain a master’s degree in sociology someday. For now though, they are a family of eleven packed into a very small living space. The father of the family, now deceased, was a voter in past Bangladeshi’s elections, but none of the rest of them has registered under the current scheme. One of her brothers lives in Pakistan, and though they do not have any direct communication with him, others have told them that he is doing better there. Her other brother, who lives with the family in Saidpur, earns an income by selling butter. The women of the household say they do not want to go to Pakistan but hope that the government will permit them to stay and help to “rehabilitate them.”
