Pakistan 2005: Self-settled camp

12/20/2005

This is an example of a self-settled camp. When earthquake survivors began moving down from the high mountains, local villagers came together and found some empty land where these survivors could stay. The local people also provided tents and food. There are no latrines, no schools or security. Most of the camps in northern Pakistan are similar to this one, and camp residents are living without access to basic services.
