On the day Refugees International visited this transit center, 28 refugees were returning home. After boarding the truck, they will ride for about a kilometer to the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda. This is the easy part of the trip. Niyikiza sold her pots and pans in the DRC to raise money to make the trip. She spent two nights at a roadblock in the DRC before she got transport to the UNHCR repatriation center in Goma. She spent a day walking to get to the roadblock.
