A man in Liberia shows the indelible ink on his thumb that marks him as a registered voter. National elections in Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire will be held on October 11, with the security and stability of West Africa hanging in the balance. While over 1.3 million Liberians have registered to vote, hundreds of thousands of refugees are still in camps outside the country, with those of voting age unable to register. Refugees International is calling for increased voter education programs, absentee ballot provisions if necessary, and transportation for those in rural areas.
