The Catholic Mission of Duékoué is situated across the street from the UN’s Côte d’Ivoire peacekeeping mission Bangladesh Battalion station in the center of town. According to a census done by the Catholic Mission on June 7, more than 7,500 displaced people who fled the massacre are now living at the Mission. Father Francisco states that up to an additional 1,500 people seek refuge on their grounds at night in order to sleep in safety. A couple hundred others are at the village hall and a nearby cultural center. Here, Refugees International Advocate Mamie Mutchler speaks with a staffmember of the Mission.
