RI field representative James McNaughton talks to a shop owner who has rebuilt his lonely shop from scrap lumber in the midst of the destruction in the city of Banda Aceh. Shop owners have relied on informal credit mechanisms for capital to rebuild as the banking system in Aceh is only now beginning to get back in operation. The three main sources of employment before the tsunami were fishing, farming, and retail trade.
