Cadets were asked to make signs to inspire them in their future work as police officers. This sign says a good police officer does not just intervene, but also prevents. The concept of preventive policing would be a welcome change to Haiti where the people see the police more as a threat to their safety than as a protective force. The new curriculum for the police academy stresses respect for human rights and basic policing skills.
