Safe in Sierra Leone, Liberian refugees, like these young girls, welcome the chance to attend local schools in neighboring communities or in camp schools managed by humanitarian agencies. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has raised funds from governments and private donors to repair or build schools and to provide very basic support to the teachers and students. While there are not many books, materials or the clothing and shoes needed to attend school, parents are encouraging their children to study for a better life, and some attend adult literacy classes.
Your support helps us save lives throughout the world.
