Liberia 2004- Rebuilding a Community

04/05/2004

Liberian refugees rebuilding their community. Many of them are living in refugee camps in Sierra Leon, but travel back to Liberia in order to clear the land in their communities and begin reconstruction. There is no food in the countryside, and the rainy season has begun, so agricultural work will have to wait for a few more months. It is still very dangerous to move about in parts of Liberia as combatants still roam with their guns. In addition, UNMIL is not fully deployed in Lofa and Nimba counties where reports of violence continue to pour in. Still, the Liberians are resourceful people.
