Visual Mission: The humanitarian impact of restricted movement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories

09/23/2003

The construction of a series of walls, barriers, fences, trenches, and roads around the perimeter of the West Bank (also called the ‘security fence’ or ‘the wall’) will further restrict movement of Palestinians. The Israeli human rights organization, B’tselem, estimates that the barrier will likely cause “direct harm” to at least 210,000 Palestinians residing in sixty-seven villages, towns, refugee camps, and cities.  It will have geopolitical, economic, and social implications for years to come.
