Gaza’s al-Mawasi community is accessible only to Palestinians who live there.  Residents are allowed to enter and leave the area on foot only, between certain specified times (which can be days at a time), and then only with magnetic identity cards.  Long waits at the single checkpoint expose individuals to military activity. RI met this 10-year-old resident when she left the checkpoint to get a bottle water for people who had been waiting over an hour to pass.
