Visual Mission: The humanitarian impact of restricted movement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories

09/23/2003

The estimated population of the Dheisheh refugee camp near the West Bank city of Bethlehem is about 11,000 people.  Previously some 4,000 of them were able to work in Israel.  Presently, less than 100 are able to do so.  At least one individual who was caught entering Israel illegally had his leg broken.  This storekeeper in the camp told RI that none of her three sons are employed at this time.
