Fatma., her daughter, son-in-law Nahari, and sister-in-law are returnees from Iran. Nahari’s father was a peshmerga [Kurdish militia fighter] and fear of Saddam Hussein forced the family to flee to Iran in 1975. They returned to Iraq in 1998 and came to Baharka because they have relatives there. They would return to their home village if housing and employment were available. They also have the option to remain in Baharka.
