Iraq Visual Mission: Displacement in Erbil

08/28/2003

Murhat H. and his family came to Quishtappa in 1979 from a village near the Turkish border after his family was forced from their home.  Three of Murhat’s children were killed in 1973 by PKK forces.  Because PKK forces continue to engage in violence on the border, it is not safe for the family to return to their home village.  However, once security is restored, Murhat hopes that international organizations will assist families in building houses in their home villages so that they may return.
