Kenya Visual Mission:  Languishing in Northern Kenya Refugee Camp

06/19/2003

Kakuma Refugee Camp in Northern Kenya: During the rainy season, patches of green and thorny acacias barely manage to survive. Normally the ground is desolate and dusty, and the heat is fierce. There is little shade available. In the rainy season, stagnant pools of water help the spread of disease among refugees and the local population, according to a doctor working in the camp.
