After fleeing violence in their home country, these Ivoirian children recently had to flee again when fighting broke out in eastern Liberia. A UN official in Liberia explained the gravity of hosting refugees in Liberia: Ivoirian refugees are in an extremely dangerous and desperately poor country. This is a country that cannot take on more refugees. There is nothing here I cannot emphasize that enough. No one is safe here. We need the donor community to find final solutions to this conflict. The problem is political and the lack of focus on politically sound solutions blocks humanitarian efforts.
