Cambodia: kneeling to examine the garden

Cambodia 2002
01/06/2003

This picture shows John Phay, the Executive Director of CFDS, talking to Pom Bo, another returnee beneficiary of CFDS assistance. When John first met Bo in 2001, she was destitute, as chickens provided by RI had carried disease, which spread and decimated her entire flock. John gave her 20,000 riels (about $5) out of his own pocket to provide immediate help, and then ensured that her family was among the first to benefit from the targeted CFDS emergency assistance. She and her husband used the support to purchase chickens and pigs, and to expand their garden, which she and John are examining in this photo.
