Cambodia 2003
01/06/2003
Mahoing Savoeun and his family benefited from emergency food support in 2002. CFDS relies on local leaders to identify the most needy families in the districts where they work, then carefully assesses each family’s needs through in-depth interviews. They provide emergency support to the poorest families while closely monitoring their overall health and well-being. Savoeun was near death from illness in June, while his wife was pregnant with their fifth child. CFDS facilitated the visit of medical personnel from the district hospital and provided with family with about 280 pounds of rice, some of which was used to pay for the repair of the family’s house. Savoeun is now fully recovered, though CFDS anticipates having to provide further food support to the family in 2003 as they missed an entire planting season due to Savoeun’s illness.
