One community elder in Eldama explained to Refugees International, “My grandfather was with the British army. When he settled here it was a temporary place. Now we’ve lived here for five generations, and we still speak our language. As young men we got IDs with lots of problems. They want the birth certificates of not only our parents, but grandparents too. Now we don’t have complications. There is no discrimination. The process is the same for everybody.”
“The main problem is education,” he said “Accessing higher education is hard for our children.”
