WASHINGTON, (India Post) - The US State Department has announced it intends to pursue a UN Security Council resolution that will underscore the international community’s concern about the situation in Burma.
According to a statement of the State Department, the United States intends to pursue a UN Security Council resolution that will underscore the international community’s concern about the situation in Burma, including the “unjustifiable detention of a great champion of democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi.”

According to asiantribune.com, Refugee International, a 27-year-old advocacy organization traveled to Burma and Thailand in November-December 2005 to analyze the situation for people displaced within Burma’s borders and came up with a comprehensive report titled Ending the Waiting Game: Strategies for Responding to Internally Displaced People in Burma.
Advocate for Refugee International and author of the report Ending the Waiting Game Kavita Shukla said the “international efforts to convince the Government of Burma to change its policies and end oppression have been fragmented and incoherent.”
