WHAT TO SAY
"President Bush, tomorrow on World Refugee Day, I urge you to increase funding for Iraqi refugees. More than four million Iraqis are now displaced and this crisis threatens to further destabilize Iraq and its neighboring countries. Please increase U.S. assistance to $290 million so that U.S. and UN agencies have the necessary funds to protect the health and safety of Iraqi refugees."

BACKGROUND
Refugees International is calling on President Bush to play a leading role in addressing the Iraqi refugee crisis by increasing the amount of US assistance for Iraqi refugees to $290 million on World Refugee Day, June 20, 2007. This is less than one quarter of one percent (0.25%) of the amount spent on the military aspects of the war.

Iraq is now the fastest growing refugee crisis worldwide with more than four million Iraqis having been forced from their homes and thousands more following every day. This growing crisis threatens recovery in Iraq and the stability of the entire region. The United States must act aggressively to stabilize the region and improve international security by making sure that the necessary funds are provided to US and UN agencies to protect the health and safety of Iraqi refugees.

With a single phone call, join thousands of Americans and make your voice heard. Help us convince President Bush that World Refugee Day is the perfect opportunity to announce his support for assisting Iraqi refugees.
