The U.S. Mission hosted an event on May 24, 2012, to honor the work done by Refugees International. Ambassador Betty King welcomed guests to her home and provided the keynote remarks. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres, in his remarks praised the extensive work Refugees International had done in crisis areas in the last year as well as their work on statelessness. Michel Gabaudan, RI President, expressed his gratitude for the recognition of the organization’s work and presented a short video that showcased the plight of individual refugees and made a compelling case for supporting the cause of refugees around the world.
