Dadaab Education Centers Bring Hope to Refugees

Refugees in northeastern Kenya's overcrowded Dadaab camp have few chances to improve their livelihoods. A few model organizations supported by the United Nations Refugee Agency are trying to change this by providing the refugees with education and job skills training. In October, a Refugees International Board Mission traveled to Dadaab to see the education centers and meet the students there.

The Dadaab refugee camp in northeastern Kenya was originally built to house 90,000 people. It now holds more than three times that many. Over 90% are Somalis fleeing violence in their home country.
