Refugees International's 30th Anniversary Celebration took place on May 7, 2009, at the Embassy of Italy. We honored media visionary and humanitarian Ted Turner with RI's most prestigious award, the McCall-Pierpaoli Humanitarian Award. Christiane Amanpour, CNN Chief International Correspondent, interviewed Mr. Turner during the dinner program, and Ambassador Richard Holbrooke presented the award. Senator Sam Brownback and Congresswoman Nita Lowey were also presented with the Congressional Leadership Award.
